Since our first project in Graphic Design class, we have been taught how to mount or work for display. The teacher used me and my project as the first people to show the class how to cut properly. With my X-acto knife shaking in my hand, I told her I was going to cut myself. She assured me that that wouldn't happen.

Through the whole semester, I kept shaking everytime I held that knife in my hand because I was so sure I would cut myself.

The very last day, I was finished and was cutting my project off of the rest of the matte board when my box cutter jumped and disappeared into my thumb. I of course realise that this was my fault because I was cutting towards myself in the first place...doing the one thing she told us not to do. I pulled the box cutter from my thumb and pretty much bled for about 40 minutes. Apparently that is a sign that you need to go to the hospital but I decided (as I was laughing hysterically) that I just needed to go home for a nap and I would be alright.

So I woke up the next day, still bleeding. When I finally went to the ER, they told me that I required multiple stitches, but since it was beyond the 24 hour period I couldn't get them. Not only that, but I severed a nerve very cleanly (which explained why I felt nothing and why part of my thumb still feel nonexistent) They gave me a tetanus shot and told me to watch out for infection.

Silly, I know. But I realised two things at this moment. One, I told the teacher I would cut myself and I did (it took me all semester, but I did it!) and two, apparently I can't get through finals without a trip to the ER because that exactly where I was finals week LAST semester.

I'm just learning to draw and how to colour in Photoshop so I already know I'm not the best, but I'm just hoping I'm not the worst. I am a graphic design student who is creatively challenged so much suckage on my part will be posted here for all your flaming glory...
